Short answer: An adjustable bed base combines a steel frame mechanism that carries the mattress with an electric dual motor that moves it. The sleeping surface is positioned with a wired or wireless remote control or a smartphone app. Under the DEEP SLEEP brand, KAR-AS manufactures the mechanisms in Kayseri, Türkiye, and supplies the dual motors and complete adjustable bed bases.
Components of an adjustable bed base
- Frame mechanism: a steel-profile frame with moving sections that carries the mattress.
- Dual motor: the electric drive that moves the mechanism; its force is stated in newtons (N).
- Control: wired remote, wireless remote or Bluetooth app.
- Mattress: Bonnell or pocket spring mattresses made by KAR-AS.

Fixed vs adjustable bed base
A fixed bed base has a flat, static surface; an adjustable base changes the position of the surface with a motorised mechanism. KAR-AS produces both, as well as storage, pop-up trundle and corner bed bases.
